This is a one year course consisting of 15/17 hours per week. The course is spread over two and a half days for 35 weeks and is designed to give a basic introduction to the plastering trade.

 

The course content is approximatley 70% practical and 30% theory and will also include litteracy and numeracy fuctional skills.

 

The course will cover the following:

  • Health, saftey and welfare in the construction and associated industries.

  • Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others.

  • Knowledge of construction technology.

  • Prepare background surfaces and plaster materials.

  • Apply plaster materials to internal backgrounds.

  • Produce components from moulds.

  • Form sand and cement screeds.

 

The level 1 diploma in plastering will be awarded to successful candidates on compleation of the required combination of units. A total oof nine units in all are required to achieve the qualification, including seven manatory and two optional units.

 

This is a very practical course that meets the needs of the construction industry where there is a skills shortage of plasterers. Learners will be taught the latest methods and techniques currently used today as well as the old traditional methods that are on old listed propertys undergoing refurbishment.
